Welcome to the Shire of Gryffyn's Keep

Fractured Fairy Tales: The Tale of Robin Hood

With “King Richard” away fighting in the Crusades, “Prince John” with the help of his evil henchman the “Sheriff of Nottingham” has invaded our beloved Shire of Gryffyns Keep.

We have fought the good fight and now with very tired voices we call out to you the populace of these great lands in search of the heroes we so desperately need to rid our land of this evil scourge.

Yes, we are in need of heroes, those most wondrous of heroes that rob from the rich and give to the poor. We need a hero who is a master with the Bow. We need a hero who is sure with a Blade. We need a hero who is unstoppable with a rapier. We need a hero who can defend our bridge from invaders. We are in need of Robin Hood and his merry men.

Who among you will come and participate in our day of tournaments in Archery, Heavy Combat, Thrown Weapons and Fencing? But beware, the Sheriff of Nottingham will be serving arrest warrants throughout the day and putting those he finds and serves into shackles (if you would like to have someone arrested please see the Jailer at the Warrant Booth and for a small bribe you may have someone arrested for 5 minutes at a time, please no more than 4 arrests of any one person throughout the day). Fear not for the entertainment of our wee ones as activities will be occurring for them, as well as, a Friar Tuck Pot Luck Dayboard/Cooking Competition starting at 11:30 AM in which our Shire will be providing the meat course (please bring a dish of your choosing to share and there will be a signup sheet and special section of the table for those wishing to enter the competition portion of the lunch board. Please be sure to make any competition dish a period recipe, also please be sure to make a list of the ingredients in your dish for allergy purposes).  Just before our scrumptious dinner feast being prepared by Lord Thomas Le Strange there will be a “swagger” competition (participants must be able to lift 40 lbs.) and Robin Hood and his merry men will be unveiled.

The feast menu is as follows:

First Course
Sodde Eggs, Sallet, Poumes, Bread and Cheeses

Second Course
Farced Fowl, Collyflowers and Puffes in the English Manner

Third Course
Pumpkin Pie

So here our call and please come and help us find our heroes so that we may put an end to the evil tyranny of Prince John.
